The eyes are the gateway of the soul. The eyes play
a major role in the first impression of the face, and
of the person. The eyelids have an equally important
part in this impression, as a droopy upper lid, baggy
eyes give a tired, elderly look. A floppy upper eyelid
may even interfere with vision.
The goal of eyelid surgery is to recreate young eyes,
a young look. This goal may be achieved by removing
excess skin, fat, and muscle by different surgical methods.
This operation may be done alone, or in conjunction
with other facial rejuvenating procedures such as a
facelift.
The surgery is usually done in local anesthesia, correcting
always the alteration analyzed during the preliminary
examination. This correction will not remove crow's
feet or other wrinkles around the eyes, this is a common
delusion. These wrinkles may be eliminated by laser
application. However the sagging eyelids, the bags,
dark shades under the eyes will disappear.
After the surgery swelling and bruising will be experienced
in the operated area, so you are advised to wear sunglasses
if you whish to go out. The stitches will generally
be removed on the 5th day, by this time the major part
of bruising will be gone. 1 week, 10 days after the
procedure, the traces of the operation may become completely
invisible by applying a light makeup.
